Hyeong Jun, who wants to quit NSS and live a normal life with Seung Hee is shot down by IRIS. This secret organization actively searches for Baek San who infiltrated the NSS as an IRIS double agent and took the opportunity to hide 5 nuclear heads in South Korea. A few years have passed as Jeon Yu Geon is recruited by the NSS. They succeed in capturing Baek San and try to get him to talk while IRIS is doing anything possible to get their hand on Baek San and the nuclear weapons.

This is the sequel of IRIS featuring Kim Tae Hee and Yi Byeong Heon. The story starts right off where IRIS 1 ended when Yi Byeong Heon‘s character is executed. The cast is good: Yi Da Hae and Jang Hyeok reunite here 3 years after Chuno. We meet again with Kim Seung WuKim So YeonKim Yeong CheolYun Ju SangDavid McInnis in the role of the villain Ray “Mr. Yellow Hair”, Kim Kap Su from IRIS 1 and some new additions such as Oh Yeon Su, Im Su Hyang as Kim So Yeon‘s little sister, Yun So Yi that also was in Warrior Baek Dong Su or K-pop idols BEAST’s Yun Du Jun and MBLAQ’s Yi Jun. Pretty good cast although Jang Hyeok and Yi Beom Su are the type of actors who get on my nerves at times, the first one for his crying scenes and the second one for his laughing scenes, but still they are quite good actors.  On the music part, we find a continuity as well as two of the main original themes “Sad Love” and “잊지마라요” are used throughout the drama. As for the scenario, it’s solid and well written, packed with action and twists with a little touch of romance. I know some people who stopped watching because to their opinion there were too much romance. Actually the romantic part is focused on 2-3 episodes so my advice is ‘Stick to it!’. After that, there is not so much romantic scenes between Su Yeon and Yu Geon and it goes back straight into action. You can sense this is a very high cost production with sets in different countries, choppers, cars, trucks, many weapons and lots of explosions. The fight scenes, and there are a lot of them, are well done. Men fights, women fights, mixed fights, with gun, with knives, barehanded, inside, outside, in the air, we got it all. I didn’t get the feeling that the same fight repeated so it never got boring. The guest appearance of Kim So Yeon makes me dream of IRIS 3 in which they will reveal everything that has not yet been revealed. If that is what they want to do then they shouldn’t rush so they can deliver something at least as good as IRIS 1 and 2. IRIS 1 is still better though. The only really negative point is product placement. Way too much of Samsung presence, not mentioning Paris Baguette and other brands. It really annoyed me at times, a little too much for my taste. Seriously, Samsung appears at least in 50% of the scenes. They loose half a point over this. They need to stop being so greedy. Overall, this drama was very good. I watched it entirely in a few days… Highly recommended. 🙂
