Seo Yeun comes find Seung Min, an old friend, to build her a house in her hometown Jeju. The encounter will revive lost memories.
Memories of Murders’ director comes back with a romantic movie. It was actually my second time watching it. The first time, I stopped after 20 minutes because I couldn’t get in the story. This time I was attending the Korean Film Festival and since a lot of people (Korean and non-Korean) told me I should watch it, I went and gave it a try again. The story line is interesting and goes back and forth between the present time and the early college years. The love story is not exceptional and somewhat predictable but the show is stolen by Jo Jeong Saek that you probably saw in The King 2 Hearts. His scenes are hilarious. There are a lot of touching moments and just for the delight to hear all the girls in the audience “awing” at the same time when Seung Min put his notebook down for Seo Yeun to sit was worth the 10$. [SPOILER***SPOILER: Honestly, I have to say that Seung Min’s attitude annoyed me. He should have protected his love and do something instead of losing it to a jerk like Jae Uk, especially when he already knows how this guy behaves around girls. He shouldn’t have let it go. I mean, isn’t he supposed to fight for his blooming love? That’s my very personal and humble opinion.] The movie, on the other side, delivers great views of Jeju Island and very good photography all along. Overall, yes, it’s a well-done movie but if you don’t watch it, it’s not the end of the world.
