WOW!!! this is the 150th drama I’ve watched in 3 years!!! That makes approximately 4 dramas per month with number of episodes varying from 4 (Couple Breaking) to 81 (Jumong). And I’m still counting! Actually, in 2010-2011, it was more like 6 dramas a month and now barely 2 per month. A 16-episode drama can be watched in 4-5 days, even less if it is really addictive. The longest ones are generally historical dramas. They are sagas spanning decades of life of one of the characters, most of the time, the title character. You can finish those in 5-6 weeks, I’d say, even less if you really enjoy historical dramas. Not all the reviews are posted yet. I will keep posted them on a regular basis. Do I need to say that I love Korean dramas? They are so entertaining. Do I get tired of it? Not at all!
Back to the review, now! I really like So Yi Hyeon. She is a really natural talent and I love her laugh. So having her in a new drama as the main role, I was expecting a lot. It was the first time I was watching OK Taek Yeon as an actor and I was gladly surprised. The guy is good! I’m watching Hae Shin at the moment so I recognized Kang Seong Pil right away. He’s a pretty decent bad guy. Notice the presence of Jang Hyeon Seong as a scaring pervert and brilliant Kim Seung Su. He always impresses me with his wrath scenes It starts off really good. There were a lot of suspense with a slight horror twist but, around episodes 9-10, the pace slows down quite a bit. It regains a lot of interest around episode 13. The story overall is pretty interesting and the background stories of Yang Shi On’s men was funny. On the technical side, it was nicely done. Good make up, special effects, lighting. The fights are nicely choreographed and filmed. It’s clean. Yang Shi On character represents justice. She uses her ability to bring peace to the spirits and relief to the leaving. As such, she appears as some kind of a healer too. This drama misses the 5 stars by little but it’s really good. I recommend!
