Jang Su Ta is an action actor whose reputation is tarnished by his wild character and numerous scandals. When he sends his fellow actor to the hospital, he needs to find a replacement so the production of his next movie is not stopped. He goes and fetches Yi Kang Pae, a real gangster that he met in a club, to play the gangster in his movie.

That was a pretty good movie co-produced and co-written by famous director Kim Ki Deok. Seeing So Ji Seob in such a role, for the first time, was really interesting. Nice perf’. I am not a fan of Kang Ji Hwan. For some reason, he ended up on the list of the actors who kind of annoy me. If you don’t like blood, don’t watch. It’s not gory but still, there are rather violent scenes. I like how reality and fiction intertwine. On one hand, living fully his famous actor’s life and crossing many boundaries, Su Ta’s character is really lost between his two worlds (on screen and off screen) and for him, the line between reality and fiction is blurred. On the other hand, Kang Pae’s gangster life doesn’t stop at the ‘cut’. You have to know when to look tough and when to look docile, when to threaten and when to cheer. It’s not because people are weak that they don’t fight back. They might have better reasons why they don’t fight back. Everything comes in time. That’s what he is to teach to Su Ta who thinks he is the real deal. I believe Su Ta more than Kan Pae (as Kang Pae has his men keeping him grounded) gets lost between the two world and Su Ta, soon enough, gets a reality check. Where should we draw the line between reality and fiction ? How can we distinguish reality from fiction? How much fiction is there in reality and how much reality is there in fiction? This movie was quite interesting, More psychological than anything else. It’s a good watch.

(Note: There is a pun on Yi Kang Pae’s name. 깡패 (Kkangpae) means gangster in Korean. The character’s name (이강패) sounds the same and is almost spelled the same)
