I had the nice surprise to find this movie on Netflix. Compared to the Chinese or Bollywood content, there were not so much Korean content, sadly. There’s only about thirty Korean films there. 😦 Hopefully they will put more in the future. Except Doomsday book, The Sword with No Name and Tower, I’ve already seen all of them. Esthetically, The Taste of Money is kind of perfect. The atmosphere is quite dark but I loved it visually, very edgy and clean set, color juxtapositions, play with shadows, etc. That is all I love. If I were to note only that, I would put 5 star stamp on that movie. Story-wise, I think it is interesting. The viewer see how these people evolve through the eyes of the secretary who doesn’t come from this environment and maybe have a more distant and negative perception of it. The movie is packed with coldness and cynicism, maybe a little too much at times. There are sex scene that might disturb some viewers. The movie was in competition in Cannes Film Festival. I remember having seen the cast interview especially with this French journalist who couldn’t pronounce Yun Yeo Jeong‘s name properly. He had to try it several times before catching it! Overall, it’s a good movie.
