Yang Mi Ja is a 66-year-old grandmother who struggles to raise her only grandson. She works as a maid to tie both ends. She’s is attracted to contemplation and beauty and joins a poetry class but soon, the ugly face of this world reappears as a student is found dead in the river. The young girl left a diary behind which points the finger at Mi Ja’s grandson and his friends…
This movie is touching, poetic and sad… I loved it. There is no music and yet there is no wrong note. The viewer is plunged into the complexity of feelings only through words, non-words and images. Yun Jeong Hee literally holds the movie on her shoulders and she does a great job. I totally get why it got so much attention. I recommend.
