안녕하세요, 여러분! Hello everyone,
I’m a french girl curious about discovering other cultures and languages. I just love languages. When I was a little girl, I told my mum that I will learn all the languages in world. Of course, at the time, I thought there were only about 10 languages and I thought it was quite doable… I gave up the idea pretty quickly when I realized there were actually thousands and thousands of languages in this world but still, the interest is here. I speak French, English, basic Spanish and Portuguese (I used to be fluent for both but I’ve lost them over time. I’d need to travel a bit to get them back I guess… I can read them quite right actually) and I also have notions of Swahili, Lingala and Ciluba. Out of curiosity I even had a sneak peek of Lakota and Mandarin (Mandarin scared me away, I might return to it one day) and I can count in Khmer up until 10! hehe I, actually, never had the intention of learning an Asian language until I discovered Korean dramas. So here I am. I am learning Korean since November/December 2010. I can read and write Korean and I can understand about 50% of what people say in every day life conversation but as soon as the lexical field becomes more technical, I’m lost. I definitely need to develop my vocabulary at this point. Also my speech is not so good. I find myself very hesitant and shy. It’s as if the words lose their way from my brain to my mouth. I got this idea of writing a blog about the process of learning an Asian language. You will also find here all the things I find interesting about Korea, all my impressions, discoveries and surprises. I hope I can visit Korea one day and share even more… ^_^
